Jubilee Year

Barrow Voice is leading the way for this Jubilee year with a front cover featuring a Panto dame resplendent in a Union Jack costume. Whatever you and yours are doing this summer, be it a Jubilee celebration or some involvement in the Olympics at local or national level, if you have a story you'd like to share, do get in touch.

While we are on the subject of drama, I urge you to read about the Kenneths on page 31. They have inspired so many young people in the village and beyond. Barrow owes them an enormous debt - thank you Carol and Gordon and enjoy your well-earned break.

The recent attempted robbery at Barrow Post Office, only a year on from the masked raid in 2011, has shocked us all. Barrow Voice is very grateful for the advertising revenue which enables us to continue offering a free magazine to every household in the village.

We appreciate that these are tough times for us all and would like to thank the continuing support we receive from our many loyal advertisers. However, we are also conscious that we must balance the books. For this reason, some future editions may be slimmer but our aim will be to guarantee, and even improve the quality. To include as much news as we can, we may need to keep the stories shorter so again please bear this in mind if you are submitting copy. If we do have to edit down, we will provide the full version of articles on the website, and also include extra photos.

The Barrow Voice team always welcomes feedback and one or two comments have suggested that we could have more 'action packed' photos. So if you are sending us a story with a photo or just have some super photos you'd like to share with us, please keep this in mind.

Jelson Homes plan refused

The reason for refusal is the unsafe design of the Grove Lane/ Sileby Road/ South Street junction which has poor visibility for traffic leaving Grove Lane, particularly when turning right towards South Street. Barrow Residents Action Group (BRAG) want to collect accident and 'near miss' information for this sub standard junction. If you can spare 5 minutes to fill in and send back the questionaire below it will be very much appreciated.
