Caroline Sharpe Musical Talent Extraodinaire

If you attended Barrow Bonanza variety show at Humphrey Perkins School in June 2016, I am sure you will remember the excellent performance of a ladies choir called ‘Music in Me’. The choir was under the direction of Caroline Sharpe. Caroline used to live in Barrow but recently moved and now lives on a boat on the Ashby Canal.

Caroline’s musical career is very impressive: she got a First Post-Graduate Diploma in Music with Distinction at the Birmingham Conservatoire under the tuition of Margaret Field; was twice a finalist in the Cecil Drew Oratorio prize and was awarded first prize in the Mario Lanza Opera Competition in 2009.

Caroline has appeared in both Monteverdi and Mozart operas at Birmingham’s Crescent Theatre and also sung the title role in Handel’s Alcina as well as being Mussetta in Puccini’s La Boehme at the Birmingham Conservatoire. Being an experienced singing teacher, Caroline offers vocal coaching and singing lessons and has had an award-winning choir. She used to run two choirs but now just concentrates on one big choir called The Caroline Sharpe Singers. It is for mixed voices, singing a variety of songs, and anyone of any ability can join. They rehearse on Saturday mornings at 10 am in the Trinity Methodist Church Loughborough.

Caroline also does solo engagements for private functions and specialises in solo and choral music for weddings. Her singing enhances the sound of the congregational hymns and she can also provide a suitable piece to be sung during the signing of the register. Not content to sit back on her laurels, Caroline also plays the seventeen bell carillon at Loughborough War Memorial in Queen’s Park. I would imagine this is no easy thing to play. If you would like information on Caroline’s future engagements, or you if are in need of a vocal coach or even thinking of joining the choir, you can find her web-page at www.carolinesharpe.com or send her an email: info@carolinesharpe.com
