Which books are on your Christmas wish
list? Do you want a few ideas?
Let’s face it, many of us have managed
to ‘escape’ these unprecedented but
increasingly depressing times with a good
book, thank goodness!
Sharing ideas for new authors and genres is a
great way to extend your reading experiences.
Library volunteers and members of the Book
Lovers’ Club share their favourites for you to
explore as Christmas gifts.
Buying locally will really help our local
economy. Our nearest bookshop is
Waterstones in Loughborough. You can
browse, order and buy. However, Barrow
Library does have some amazing book
bargains – books for 10p! These are pre-loved
books given as donations. Pop in, you may
find just the book you’re looking for as a gift
(or for yourself) or just browse through all the
excellent books that you can borrow.
If you can’t get into the library or you are
not able to linger there, you can use the
home delivery service (for the elderly and
housebound) or their Click and Collect service
(see the phone number at the end of this
article).
We are also looking for new members to join
our friendly and lively team.
Are you enthusiastic about keeping the
library open?
Can you bring some new skills to the team?
We are a very friendly and committed team
and would love to hear from you. Volunteering
can be an excellent distraction, a chance to
make new friends and feel really useful.
All of us at the Barrow Community Library
wish everyone a very happy, safe and hopeful
Christmas 2020.
