After another very successful junior season last year, Barrow Town Cricket Club is seeking to expand the junior section to include a dedicated Dynamo’s Girls Only programme.

Last summer was the frst year the club ran the England Wales Cricket Board (ECB) Dynamo’s cricket programme for eight to 11-year-olds with nearly 30 boys and girls taking part. This was alongside the very popular, long- running All Stars programme for five to eight-year-olds where 60 boys and girls took part, which meant that Friday evenings at the club were always busy, and were real community events.

This summer the Girls Only Dynamo’s programme will be included on Fridays and they will be seeking other clubs to play against.

Sign-up to both programmes starts in early March and is via the ECB website (see below).

In another first for girls’ cricket, last season Isla Williamson, who has been playing at the club since the age of eight, made her debut for the club’s senior 1st team at the age of 17. She has recently joined the Blaze Academy, (Nottinghamshire’s County Cricket Club’s Women’s team).

Barrow Cricket Club had another successful season with the Under13s team becoming County League Champions and runner up in the County Cup. The senior 1st team won the T20 bowl and finished 3rd in Division One. The 2nd team finished runners-up in Division 5 West.

The club is always on the lookout for volunteers for various different roles, especially parents wishing to help out with All Stars, Dynamo’s and Junior cricket. If you want to help out or have any queries, please email barrowtowncc.juniors@gmail.com.
