Murder most foul: What? The Butler Saw?

A play by Helen Sadler

The Murder Mystery will be back at Humphrey Perkins on Saturday 1st October 2022 at 7.30pm.

We had an interesting time during lockdown – you may have caught us doing a Zoom Murder Mystery in 2021 when we did First Class Death by Helen Sadler. This was very successful and we loved doing it. We never met up but performed as best we could. It was watched, incidentally, by friends and family around Europe and all over the UK. Just the reach of the show, to loved ones far off, made me want to do another one and we started one for spring 2022, but decided to save it up until we could perform in person, on stage.

We’re in different times this year and a ploughman’s supper will not be part of the evening. But who knows for another year? We’re taking things a day at a time as we adjust to the new normal. There will be nibbles at the table and a pop-up bar available.

But the cast is one you’ll recognise (mostly) and the challenge to solve a foul murder is the same – it’s all about getting your brain engaged. Come in Victorian clothing (or not) and – see you there!

Tickets are priced at £12 and we will shortly be able to confirm where you can buy them – watch out for the poster!

After last year’s successful and popular festival held at Trinity Church, watch out for details of this year’s festival promising to offer an entertaining weekend of fabulous talent in October.

The festival kicks off on Saturday 8th October at 7.30pm with an informal classical concert featuring local musicians. The Carillon String Quartet will be performing with friends from Charnwood Orchestra featuring Jeremy Kimber on piano, James Martin on guitar and Jon Barwell on violin. Proms numbers will complete the evening with audience participation. People under the age of 16 are admitted for free, while adult tickets are £5 and can be purchased at Holy Trinity Church or from Victoria Jane on Barrow High Street

Sunday 9th (2pm – 6pm) sees the return of the successful Arts and Crafts Festival, showcasing a range of creations from our talented Barrow villagers. This is a great opportunity to purchase gifts or to treat yourself to a unique piece of art. Throughout the afternoon, there will be entertainment from local musicians and performing artists. Refreshments will be available in Trinity Rooms and entry will be free of charge.
