Dr Simpson, well-known to many of us in the village, recently hung up his stethoscope to head into a wellearned retirement. Here, his colleagues at the surgery pay tribute to him.

Dr Simpson will always be a valued member of the Barrow Health Centre Team.

Having joined the practice in 1983 as a young doctor, he spent the next 39 years working with colleagues to shape the surgery into a family practice for the village of Barrow Upon Soar.

With his wealth of knowledge, Dr Simpson has taught medical students of the future; conducted many minor operations both at the surgery and at Loughborough Hospital where he held regular day case appointments; has been there for many highs and lows of patients and colleagues; and remains someone who will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all of his teammates.

Having contemplated retirement on several occasions over the past few years, it was clear to see that it meant so much to him to leave the practice in good hands for the future.

A lot of hard work goes into running a Health Centre and with a hard-working and stable team in place, he feels comfortable to hang up his stethoscope and hand over the reins.

We were delighted to have some good weather to wish Dr Simpson a Happy Retirement on 26th March with a lovely sunny meal at Pilling’s Lock Marina.

From all of the team at Barrow Health Centre – thank you Dr Simpson, for being a hugely supportive colleague both personally and professionally; your dedication to patients and staff has been second-to-none. Now enjoy every well-earned minute of your well-earned retirement.
