Barrow WI are a welcoming, friendly group of women, we are definitely NOT all about “Jam & Jerusalem” and you certainly don’t have to be crafty to join.
We are one of our village's longest running organisations. Founded in 1949 and this year 2024, we are celebrating our 75th birthday.
Currently our membership age range is between 27 & 94 with a lot in between.
We try to plan our yearly programme so that all our members can find something that they enjoy. We aspire to inspire our members through experience, knowledge and skills.
At recent past meetings we have learnt about sheep farming & wool production, British Sign Language and Parkinsons disease in addition to more light-hearted interactive events including Zumba Gold & sausage making.
Our up-and-coming programme includes a talk from a stuntman working in film, Bollywood dancing and a summer picnic.
We compete in the WI federation skittles tournament and are always eager for new members to join especially if they can knock down skittles. We also have a monthly competition with the highest scorer over the year receiving a trophy.
The WI is open to all women over 18.
Join us for fun, friendship and laughter. Visitors are always welcome (£2 including refreshments) three visits are permitted before becoming a full WI member.
We meet on the second Wednesday of each month at Barrow Conservative Club Function Room. 7.30pm.
