This summer holidays Barrow Library will again be hosting the wonderful Summer Reading challenge for children age 4-12. It launches on Saturday 6th July at the Annual Library Summer Open Morning. The Challenge this year focuses on ‘Marvellous Makers’. It is a free holiday activity for children. It’s all about reading for fun and aims to improve children’s reading skills and confidence. Children can read anything they like (really – anything!) and collect free rewards for their reading. Just pop in to the library any time on or after 6th July and sign up.
This year’s Challenge is all about creativity. Children will be able to find new reads linked to their favourite creative arts, and access free activities at the library.
They will have until Saturday 7th September to complete it with a special free raffle for all who complete.
BOSCAPS makes a welcome and joyful return to the village this summer. Held, as ever, at Humphrey Perkins School, it runs in the mornings from 5th – 9th August 9.30am-12.30pm. Additionally, from Monday – Thursday in the afternoons, children can join in some sports, dance and gymnastics workshops held 12.30pm-3.30pm.
BOSCAPS welcomes children from school reception-year age up to, and including, year 7.

Alixandra Dance is about more than dance. Over the summer, 5–12-yearolds can join in workshops that include dance, gymnastics, baking, arts & crafts, face painting and more.
Join them at Barrow Methodist Church 29th July to 1st August and Barrow Scout Hut for a challenge on 2nd August, circus skills on 16th August and Lilo and Stitch on 23rd August.
