Volunteers adopt our railway station

After a couple of years of trying to engage (without success) with East Midlands Railways to litter pick on the station, volunteers from Barrow Footpaths Group and Barrow Community Litter Pickers have joined forces to adopt the station.

They plan to tidy the railway station over the autumn and “spruce it up” once they have had their safety briefing from East Midlands Railways.

This follows a couple of years of trying to get East Midlands Railways to litter pick the area but with no success. Their aim is to make the station a clean and welcoming site when visiting or returning home (for those mobile enough for the steps!).

Volunteers also help the Parish Council keep some of their green spaces clear so that funding can be saved to spend elsewhere in the village. If you want to join them in any of their litter picking, clearing of footpaths or station work, please contact:
