The East Midlands in Bloom judges visited the village on 10th July. The Barrow in Bloom team worked tirelessly to ensure the village was looking its best for the big day. The judging route covered a number of locations in the village including the newly refurbished Riverside View, the Station and the new cemetery extension on Cotes Road. The judges were particularly impressed with Barrow’s community spirit and how our groups work with the public bodies to keep our public areas looking beautiful. Stewart Pawley created a fantastic front cover for the portfolio to celebrate 60 years of the RHS. which is featured below. Thank you to the Scouts for hosting the very well received refreshments at the end of the morning. A huge thank you to Annette Richardson for co-ordinating the day. We await the results which will be revealed on 25th September!
Sadly, some of our Christmas tree motif lights are coming to the end of their life. It is time to start investigating alternative options. If you have any ideas that you would like to suggest please share them with us or if you would like to be part of the decision-making process please do get in touch, we would love to hear from you. Our Christmas Lights switch on and Market will be held on 30th November this year.
We have been delighted with our new youth club that was launched in the Summer. We have been working in partnership with Blaze City based in Loughborough to provide the summer programme. If we can find a location for the colder months, we will continue with the provision over the winter months.
