Ladies’ fashion was the name of the game in the library on 9th June and this ticket-only event sold out immediately raising an amazing £435 for the library’s funds.
The idea came from Tracy Oldershaw, owner of Find UR Style boutique which is on the High Street, as a way of thanking all her customers and friends for their support over the three years the boutique has been open. Tracy told me that library coordinator Angeline, her mum Ann, and sister Traudi were some of her very first customers, so she thought it was a good idea to hold Find Ur Style’s first ever fashion show in the library to help support this community service which, she says, “plays a big part in making Barrow such a desirable place to be.”
Tracy wants to thank everyone who contributed to making the successful event: the library volunteers, especially Joyce who helped plan and present the show; handcrafted jewellery, created especially for the show by Vicki Capella Creations UK, which helped set-off the outfits and is now available to buy in the boutique; local businesses (Central Therapies, Taylor’s Florist and Victoria Jane) donated raffle prizes; Sharon from Taylor’s Florist created an amazing floral display. Sound and lighting equipment were provided by Matthew who also ‘DJd’ on the day and photographer, Paul, was there taking photos. And then there were the people who bought tickets for the event and had a wonderful afternoon.
It's a credit to the village when local businesses and community activities join forces in such a positive way. Local business people work hard to keep Barrow a lively and functioning village and they need our support to keep them here. Please take a moment to look at local shops and businesses before going to the internet. Find UR Style has a whole range of ladies’ clothing and accessories for all ages and sizes and Tracy is always happy to give impartial advice about what suits an individual for any particular occasion – or no occasion in particular!
Watch out for information about the next fashion show in the library but remember, tickets sell fast, so don’t miss out!
