Barrow Greener Living Group and Hall Orchard Primary School have been working in partnership to promote the message of walking to school. There are so many benefits to walking or travelling actively (cycling/scooting). It is good for physical health to walk more and good for mental wellbeing.

It gives time to chat with friends and family and spot things of interest along the way. It is also better for the planet reducing car use and improving air quality at the school gates. The children were encouraged to design some posters to promote this message and we were overwhelmed by the response. We had so many colourful and inspiring entries.

We would like to say a huge thank you to the school and all the pupils for taking part in this project. Giving some thought to walking more is a very positive thing to do. We would also like to thank the parish council because through a grant from them we were able to fund some book token prizes for the winners. It was so hard to choose but a small panel of judges independently identified four posters that really stood out. They are shown here and will also be popping up in locations around the village to encourage new habits of travel for a new school term.
