In the middle of April, I watched with curiosity as building work seemed to carve the High St Rezide Group Estate Agent in two. Sure enough, that’s what has happened. Mother and son Tracy and Zachary Oldershaw decided that changes in working practices means that the space available to the estate agent was no longer needed; Zachary continues to work in the smaller space while his mother has very happily realised her dream of opening a boutique Find Ur Style.
Tracy is a firm believer in reinventing yourself as your life naturally evolves with time. She worked in financial services for much of her earlier life, involved in business management, financial planning, training and education. After raising her four children she decided it was time to change direction. She attended a professional course in London then set up a personal styling service from home, running parties, events and consultations for her friends and neighbours. She helped people select the colours, shapes and styles of clothing that would suit them and give them confidence to follow their own personalities.
She worked with Zachary in Barrow, helping him become established as the new estate agent in what was Roy Green but when realisation dawned on them both that she could open a new business in some of the space, she jumped at it. With a lot of help from family and friends, she opened the doors on April 13th.
Find Ur Style sells mostly Italian clothes with a big variety of quality fabrics, usually vivid colours, easy care and often following a ‘mix and match’ style. You will see for yourself when you visit the shop that Tracy has achieved a bright and welcoming ambience. It looks fun and inviting. She can’t resist adding eye-catching accessories; I particularly enjoyed the umbrella, the big summer hat and the beachwear. Eventually she hopes to set up a corner where she will show old movies - sure to get you into a relaxed frame of mind.
Tracy is assisted by her daughter Freya who is apprenticed to the business. “I’ve been interested in clothes even as a little girl,” she said. “I liked to help at Mum’s parties, dressing mannequins and working out what styles would suit a person.” They are both really enjoying this new enterprise and Barrow Voice wishes them every success.
