This summer really feels like a time for blossoming. The events committee of BUSCA has been getting excited about all the things that can bring the village together again. They have plans for the seven whole weeks of the summer, kicking off with Barrow’s Blooming Great Garden Walk happening over the 19th and 20th of June; the Village Fête on 4th July; Barrow in Bloom Judging Walk from the 5th to the 16th July and Barrow’s Best Pub Planter weekend to enjoy as you soak up the sunshine at one of our great public houses. The summer’s finale stars the scarecrows of the village at the Barrow Scarecrow Festival over the weekend of 31st July - to 1st August.
Gardening is also featured in other articles where you can read about living with dementia and the benefits of gardens and chemical-free gardening. We meet some of Barrow’s interesting residents and explore the benefits to physical and mental health of Barrow’s waterways – whether that’s taking a stroll along the banks or being more adventurous on the water. We also tackle the serious issue of harassment and offer ideas for support.
The Barrow Voice is part of BUSCA and contributes to the great village community. We need people to join our team, particularly to help with attracting, organising and administering the advertising that is essential for us to continue publishing. So, if you have the skills and knowledge, or want to develop the skills and knowledge about advertising, please do get in touch with me at: editor@barrowvoice.co.uk
