I was enamoured when I heard of the five – yes, five! – generations of the same family living in Barrow and I wanted to find out more.

The grand matriarch of the family is 96-year-old Mary Clayton, who was born and bred in Leicester but has lived on Highfields since 2012. Her daughter, Lin Winter moved to the village in 1968 and now lives in New Street. Her granddaughter, Stephanie Atkinson (Lin’s eldest daughter) grew up in Barrow and now lives in Grove Lane. Mary’s great granddaughter is Leonie Atkinson-Morris who lives on Poppyfields with her daughter and Mary’s great, great granddaughter, 13-year-old Grace.

Wow! That’s some achievement and we, at Barrow Voice, wish them all well.
