The Barrow Upon Soar Scout Group has proudly unveiled a stunning new mural in their headquarters in the village, marking the completion of a two-year renovation project to refresh the interior of the hut and revitalise the heart of the local Scouting community. Two resident talents, Alison and Linda, stepped forward with a generous offer to design and paint the mural on the wall in the Beavers’ section of the hut, where a well-loved but very old mural had been on display for many years.

The new mural is a vibrant, detailed work of art that captures the essence of the Scouting spirit. It depicts a lush riverside landscape teeming with local wildlife, including squirrels, a nesting bird and otters. Also featuring a prominent purple World Scout flag, a cyclist on a trail, a group of Scouts paddling in the river, the work perfectly represents the active, adventurous lifestyle of the group.

"The transformation is absolutely incredible," said Ian Mitchell, Chair of the group. "The old mural served us well, but what Alison and Linda have created is truly special. It has turned a plain corner of our hut into an inspiring space that the Squirrels, Beavers, Cubs, and Scouts will enjoy for many years to come. We are so grateful for their time, talent and community spirit."

Altogether, the mural serves as the crowning jewel of the group's efforts to decorate and modernise their facilities, providing a bright and welcoming environment for the young people of Barrow Upon Soar to learn, grow and explore.
